Chloroform will undergo a hydrolysis reaction with water, and the finished chloroform contains stabilizers to prevent decomposition. Chloroform is not flammable, but it will release phosgene when burned in contact with flame.

Chloroform is used to prepare difluorochloromethane HCFC-22 (Freon F22). Used in medicine triethyl orthoformate and pharmaceutical intermediates. Can be used as solvent. It can be used to synthesize dyes, spice raw materials and synthetic fine chemical products.
Chloroform should be sealed and packed in galvanized iron drums or tankers. Chloroform should be stored in a dry and cool place, and the warehouse should have ventilation facilities to avoid contact with moisture and prevent hydrolysis.
The main harm of chloroform to the human body is its anesthetic effect. Inhalation of large amounts can damage the human respiratory system, heart, liver and kidneys. Chloroform can be mildly irritating to the skin.
