Advantages of using lime nitrogen (calcium cyanamide) method to produce thiourea.

There are three main production processes in the thiourea industry, one is the amine thiocyanate method, the other is the diazomethane method, and the third is the lime nitrogen method. At present, most manufacturers in China use the lime nitrogen method for production, and the ammonium thiocyanate method and the diazomethane method have been gradually phased out. The lime nitrogen method uses lime nitrogen and hydrogen sulfide gas to perform an absorption synthesis reaction in a synthesis kettle to obtain a thiourea solution. After the solution is filtered and slag removed three times, washed and purified, the solution is poured into a crystallization tank for cooling and crystallization. After solid-liquid separation, the crystals are dried using a three-legged centrifuge and then dried to obtain the finished product of thiourea.

This process route improves production safety, is simple to operate, shortens the process flow, and reduces production costs. The mother liquor produced during the entire process is leached with calcined gypsum in a closed-circuit cycle, which avoids the discharge of waste water and has better environmental protection effects. Therefore, most manufacturers in China adopt this method.

China has national standards for the production process of thiourea, and product purity requirements are above 98%. However, at present, the quality of products produced by China's thiourea manufacturers is mixed. In order to make huge profits, some small and medium-sized enterprises pass off inferior products and falsely report product purity, which does not meet the standards required by the electroplating industry. Most of the thiourea in the Chinese market is qualified products with a purity of 98%, while first-class and high-quality products with a purity of 98.5% and 99% are in limited supply.
