4.Leaching: Immerse the prepared gold ore in the acidic thiourea solution. The thiourea solution acts as a complexing agent, forming soluble gold-thiourea complexes. This step requires sufficient time for the gold to dissolve into the solution. Agitation or stirring may be employed to enhance mass transfer and accelerate the leaching process.

 

5.Precipitation of gold: Once the gold has been leached into the solution, it needs to be precipitated out. This is usually achieved by adding a suitable reducing agent, such as sodium metabisulfite or zinc powder, to the solution. The reducing agent reacts with the gold-thiourea complex, causing the gold to precipitate out as metallic gold.

 

6.Separation and recovery: After precipitation, the solid gold particles can be separated from the solution through filtration or other separation techniques. The recovered gold can then be further processed and refined to obtain pure gold.

 

7.Recycling and environmental considerations: Thiourea can be recycled and reused in the leaching process, which helps reduce costs and minimize environmental impact. However, proper disposal of any residual chemicals and waste from the process is essential to prevent environmental contamination.
